  1. The story does connect to todays society in way, by reminding us that even though we might be told to do something, in the end its up to us what we think is the right thing to do. Nnaemka was told to marry Ugoye, but did what he felt was right and married Nene. 1005414

  2. I believe the story is directly connected to present society. I know of different stories of people that had been through the same struggle: People telling them what to do. At the end, it is not important that we learn to make decisions by ourselves, but that we learn to make the right ones. ID 1004765

  3. The story "Marriage is a private affair", is connected to the present society today because not everyone has a open mind on race or gender or age when it comes to view marriage. Today we face this situation there are still civilians that have close concept on different cultures unity in marriage. Some feel as though it is a disgrace to go on marrying someone not in their culture. That it is a insult to our families just as Nnaemka's father did throughout the story. As so some do disown or simply do not want nothing to do with us anymore just like Okeke did to Nnaemka after his marriage with Nene. Their stubbornness affects them from opening their hearts and mind into seeing someone or something different than what they are custom to. But at the end Nnaemka"s father realizes he must put this differences aside for Nene to be able to have a relationship with his grandsons as he desires. As Like today weather what situation it is among our cultures at the end we will always have family ties. Why not instead of waste time, cherish the great moments, learn a new culture be more opened to new things. Look more than the outside and culture but the happiness of our loved one.785032
